PALM BEACH, Fla. -- The Pittsburgh Steelers could still change their coaching staff. So far, the two most obvious changes they have made were two switches on the defensive side of the ball, hiring inside linebackers coach Scott McCurley and defensive backs coach Gerald Alexander.
Yet, head coach Mike Tomlin did not rule out further changes from coming to the Steelers coaching staff. He said that he is open to making additional hires.
"I’m open to it," Tomlin said.
It is unlikely any other coaches would be fired or let go, barring unforeseen circumstances; however, the Steelers could look to hire other coaches at this point in the offseason.
That would likely come with a consultant or another senior assistant dedicated to one side of the ball, just like senior offensive assistant Mike Sullivan is currently labeled right now.
Pittsburgh promised ‘big changes’ this offseason, but many of those have not come to their coaching staff, but rather the team’s personnel at large. It seems the coaching staff will largely remain intact.
