EBRD Literature Prize 2025: books from Moldova and Ukraine among finalists
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has announced the short list for this year’s EBRD Literature Prize.
The ten selected works include two books by Ukrainian authors and one book by a Moldovan author.
The book by Molodovan writer Liliana Corobca Too Great a Sky was translated from Romanian by Monica Cure and published in the UK.
The book by Artem Chapeye, The Ukraine, was translated from the Ukrainian by Zenia Tompkins and published in the UK.
The book My Women by Yuliia Iliukha was translated from Ukrainian by Hanna Leliv and published in the United States.
Another Ukrainian book, a Forgottenness by Tanja Maljartschuk, was also translated by Zenia Tompkins and published in Ireland and the United States.
Three finalists will be announced in late April. The winning author and translator will be revealed on 24 June at a public awards ceremony and reception at the EBRD’s headquarters in London, attended by the judges and the finalist authors, translators and publishers. Prize money of €20,000 will be divided equally between the winning author and translator. The authors and translators of the other two finalist works will each receive €2,000.
