Matheus Cunha’s future at Wolves is making the headlines again after the Brazilian’s revelation.
Wolves would not be nine points ahead of the relegation zone if it weren’t for Cunha however, the 25-year-old has been making some rather unhappy.
Controversially, Cunha suggested that he wants to leave Wolves in an interview with The Guardian, which came as a suckerpunch to those at Molineux.
Naturally, the player wants to progress on the back of an impressive individual campaign, but Wolves’ fight is not over, making the timing of the comments far from ideal.

Vitor Pereira responds to Matheus Cunha’s Wolves transfer plea
Some Wolves fans aren’t pleased with Cunha’s interview, and understandably so, as transfer ambitions should be a conversation had in the summer.
The Brazilian could see his relationship with supporters become turbulent, but what do those within the club think?
Ahead of Wolves’ clash with West Ham at Molineux, Vitor Pereira was asked to comment on Cunha’s revelation.
“He knows his potential, he’s a top player. For me, it’s normal that he has the ambition to fight for titles; for me, this is natural,” Pereira told the media in his pre-match press conference.

“It happens with other players in all clubs, but most important is to be committed to help the team to achieve our targets. At the end of the season, we will see.”
Pereira stressed that his focus was on his team and the next game, attempting to shift attention from talk about Cunha’s uncertain future.
“Next season, I don’t know. The focus is the next game, the next game. The focus is the team and Matheus makes part of the team, not for this game but my focus is my team.
“In the summer, we will see what happens but in my opinion, it’s normal that a player with his potential has ambition.”
Pereira ensures Cunha is committed to Wolves
The Wolves manager believes Cunha eyeing bigger things is natural, which is true, but only emphasises that his comments didn’t need to be made public.
There are nine games remaining in the 2024/25 campaign for Wolves, who are down in 17th place as a result of a difficult season.
After signing a new contract in January, there was hope that talk of Cunha’s future would be muted temporarily, but the player has ensured that hasn’t happened.
Pereira was asked about the Brazilian’s commitment to Wolves after his plea to leave the club in the summer.
“He’s committed,” Pereira confirmed.
“He will try to help us for sure, this is the present, the future? I don’t know.”
It will almost certainly be Cunha’s final season at Wolves, in what is at risk of becoming a sour end to the chapter for the 25-year-old.
