Cavaliers Star Posts Two-Word Message After 60th Win

The Cleveland Cavaliers reached a major team milestone on Sunday with less than two weeks to go in the NBA's regular season. They won their 60th game of the season by getting past the Los Angeles Clippers, 127-122, at Rocket Arena.

It is the third time in franchise history they have reached 60 victories in a season and the first time since the 2009-10 campaign, which was the last season of LeBron James' first stint with them.

Donovan Mitchell had 24 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists and four steals on Sunday, and after the game, he decided to celebrate his team reaching 60 wins.

"60 wins," he posted on social media.

Before anyone complains, the regular season is a 6 month grueling process. You need to enjoy the small milestones along the way. Such is the case with life.

Mitchell has always been an explosive scorer, but his scoring is down this season, mostly by design. Cleveland has been winning with more of a balanced attack, and it is a big reason the team ranks first in points per game, offensive rating and 3-point shooting percentage.

Mitchell is averaging 24.0 points a game this season, which is down from 26.6 points a game last season and 28.3 per game the year before that. But the thinking is that by not having to exert himself as much during the regular season, he will be more rested and apt to put up his customary big games in the playoffs.

The six-time NBA All-Star is a proven big-game performer. He has a 28.1 points per game average for his career in the playoffs, and in 54 playoff games, he has reached the 40-point mark five times and the 50-point plateau three times.

It may take several outbursts like that for him to take the Cavs all the way to the mountaintop this summer.
