Brighton wait on Geirginio Rutter injury update

Brighton star Georginio Rutter could face a lengthy absence after his injury against Nottingham Forest.

The former Leeds man was in clear distress as he left the pitch in the 74th minute of their FA Cup penalty-shootout defeat to Forest at the Amex Stadium last Saturday.

The 22-year-old appeared to twist his ankle on the turf at the Amex Stadium in an off-the-ball incident and was later seen limping badly in a protective boot.

The £40m summer signing from Leeds United was later pictured getting into an ambulance at the Amex Stadium on his way to hospital.

Georginio has been a key man for the Seagulls this term in the No 10 role and has eight goals and five assists in all competitions.

The Frenchman is clearly a major doubt for Wednesday's Premier League clash against Aston Villa and with just nine top flight matches to go this term, Georginio could struggle to play again this season.

"He might have to go for a scan," said head coach Fabian Hurzeler in the post match press. "I cannot say anything more."

Brighton will be hoping for good news this week and more should be revealed in Tuesday morning's pre Aston Villa press conference.

Adam Webster is also an injury concern as the defender suffered a hamstring injury just before extra-time against Forest.
