Liverpool expected to agree deal for Premier League defender

Liverpool face rivals Everton in the Merseyside derby on Wednesday evening.

The Toffees held their city rivals to a 2-2 drawn their last meeting back in February, with James Tarkowski’s late goal earning the hosts a point in the final ever Merseyside derby to take place at Goodison Park.

Since then the Reds have extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table to 12 points, although that could be reduced to nine points if second-placed Arsenal defeat Fulham on Tuesday night.

Off the pitch, it appears that those in charge of Liverpool’s recruitment are working hard to prepare for this summer’s transfer window.

According to TBR Football, Liverpool are set to begin negotiations over a deal for Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez.

The report claims that the Reds are preparing to enter into talks with the Cherries about a potential deal for the 21-year-old, who has been in sensational form on the south coast this term.

Kerkez joined Bournemouth from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in 2023 and has since played 65 times for the club across all competitions.

Kerkez could be on his way to Anfield this summer

The left-back has been one of the standout performers in his position in the Premier League this season, helping Andoni Iraola’s side to put themselves in contention to qualify for European football next term.

The Hungary international is under contract with the Cherries until the summer of 2028, but the report suggests that the south coast side would be willing to sell the player for a fee of £50 million this summer.

That would represent an impressive profit for Bournemouth, who paid just £15 million to sign the Hungarian less than two years ago.

Despite this, the report does also claim that Liverpool value the player at closer to £40 million, however it is reported that both sides believe an agreement can be reached.
