Arsenal will hope to cut Liverpool’s lead at the top of the Premier League table to nine points by beating London rivals Fulham on Tuesday night.
The Gunners defeated Chelsea 1-0 in their last outing prior to the international break, cutting the Reds’ advantage to 12 points.
Mikel Arteta’s side return to action before Liverpool, though, meaning that the deficit could be nine points by the time the league leaders face rivals Everton in the Merseyside derby on Wednesday.
Arsenal have struggled with injuries this season, particularly in attack with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus having all been sidelined for prolonged periods.
While Saka could return against the Cottagers, both Jesus and Havertz are set to miss the remainder of the current campaign.
Those steering the Gunners’ recruitment are therefore working to identify transfer targets to bolster Arteta’s squad, and it has emerged that the North London side are interested in a Ligue 1 star.
As per TEAMtalk, Arsenal are one of a number of clubs interested in Lille striker Jonathan David.
David is set to leave Lille at the end of the current campaign
The Canada international is in the final few months of his current contract and is therefore set to be available as a free agent this summer, and the report claims that several clubs are showing interest in the 25-year-old.
Newcastle United, Chelsea and Manchester City are all said to have been monitoring the forward’s situation, while Italian outfit Inter Milan are also believed to be pursuing a potential move.
David joined Lille from Belgian side Gent in 2020 and has since established himself as one of the most prolific goal scorers in Europe, netting 107 times in 225 games for the club.
With David set to be available as a free agent this summer, the Canadian is able to agree a pre-contract agreement with any club outside of France prior to the transfer window officially opening.
