THE LIGUE 1 title race is almost over as Paris Saint-Germain won 6-1 at struggling Saint-Étienne. They now need just a single point to secure their 11th title in 13 seasons. They are 21 points clear of second-placed Monaco. Their latest victory saw them come back from a goal down and score five times in the second half, with two coming from Désiré Doué. As well as their pursuit of the Champions League, PSG face Dunkerque on April 1 in the semi-finals of the Coupe de France. Monaco were 2-1 winners against Nice, but Olympique Marseille lost ground due to their 3-1 defeat at Reims. Strasbourg were impressive in their 4-2 victory against Lyon.
**Eredivisie: Ajax win the big clash to go nine clear**
AJAX have not won the Eredivisie title since 2022 but they are now red hot favourites to be crowned champions after their 2-0 win at holders PSV Eindhoven sent them nine points clear at the top of the table. Ajax maintained their 12-game unbeaten run (11 wins, one draw) and took advantage of PSV’s post-Christmas decline that has seen them win just three games in 10. Ajax’s goals came from Davy Klaassen after 35 minutes and Bertrand Traoré in the 67th. Ajax fans were so delighted they waited in Amsterdam for the team and coach Francesco Farioli to return. Meanwhile, in the pack behind the top two, Utrecht won 2-0 against Heerenveen and Feyenoord were 3-2 winners against Go Ahead Eagles.

**FA Cup: City come back to salvage their season**
AWAY teams had the upper hand in the FA Cup quarter-finals, with all four winning through to the semi-finals. Crystal Palace won the London derby at Craven Cottage against Fulham by 3-0, while Nottingham Forest won the penalty shoot-out at Brighton after a goalless draw. Forest have won three FA Cup ties on penalties this season. Aston Villa, thanks to two goals from Marcus Rashford, won 3-0 at Preston North End. Manchester City went a goal down and missed a first half penalty at Bournemouth before coming back to win 2-1. The semi-final draw paired Crystal Palace with Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest with Manchester City.
**Serie A: A two-horse race for the scudetto**
INTER Milan and Napoli look poised to fight out the destination of the Serie A title in the last few weeks of the season. With eight games remaining, the two challengers have four opponents in common (Parma, Cagliari, Torino and Bologna). Inter won 2-1 against Udinese with goals from Marko Arnautović and Davide Frattesi. Referee Daniele Chiffi came under fire for being over-lenient when it came to booking players. Napoli, who are three points behind Inter, beat AC Milan 2-1 with two early goals from Matteo Politano and Romelu Lukaku before Luka Jović pulled a goal back for the _Rossoneri_. Atalanta were beaten 1-0 at Fiorentina, whose winner came from Moise Kean.
**Bundesliga: Leverkusen keep chasing**
THE top two in the Bundesliga continued their bid for the title, but Bayern Munich are still enjoying a six-point lead at the summit. Bayern beat St. Pauli 3-2 with Harry Kane and Leroy Sané (2) scoring. Bayer Leverkusen, whose coach Xabi Alonso continues to be linked with Real Madrid, beat relegation-threatened Bochum 3-1. Leverkusen are without Premier League target Florian Wirtz, who will not be back until early April due to an ankle injury. Borussia Mönchengladbach beat RB Leipzig 1-0, a result that proved to be the catalyst for Leipzig’s dismissal of coach Marco Rose. Eintracht Frankfurt beat Stuttgart 1-0, the winning goal coming from Germany’s 2014 World Cup matchwinner Mario Götze.

**La Liga: Atlético drifting out of contention**
ATLÉTICO Madrid’s title hopes are evaporating by the week after their third game without a win. They have won three of their last 10 La Liga games and have one point from three games. A 1-1 draw at Espanyol was the latest blow after César Azpilicueta gave them a first half lead. They are now nine points behind the leaders. Barcelona remain top with a three- point lead over second-placed Real Madrid. They won 4-1 against Girona with Robert Lewandoiwski scoring twice. Barca have scored 82 goals this season in 29 league games, 20 goals more than the next highest scoring side. Real Madrid won 3-2 against Leganés with Kylian Mbappé netting a brace and Jude Bellingham scoring the winner. In the Seville derby, Real Betis beat a revived Sevilla team 2-1. In the Copa del Rey semi-finals, Atlético Madrid face Barcelona (first leg 4-4) and Real Madrid host Real Sociedad (1-0) this week.
**Portugal: Big three all win**
SPORTING maintained their three point lead at the top of the table with a 3-0 win at Estrela Amadora. Viktor Gyökeres scored two penalties and Geovany Quenda was also on the scoresheet. Gyökeres is going to be a big transfer target in the summer with Arsenal and Manchester United among the interested clubs. Benfica were also winners on the road, beating Gil Vicente 3-0 thanks to goals from Fredrik Aursnes, Andrea Belotti and Ángel Di María. Porto came from behind to beat Estoril Praia 2-1, the decisive goal coming from Rodrigo Mora.
**Greece: Keeper blunder in local derby**
THE Greek Super League Championship play-offs have started and Olympiacos, the leaders, beat Panathinaikos 4-2 in a stirring local derby. The game got off to a dramatic start when Panathinaikos goalkeeper Bartlomiej Dragowski made a huge blunder to allow Roman Yaremchuk the chance to score the first of his two goals. It was not a good day for the visitors – Panathinaikos had a man sent off near the end. In the other Championship round game, PAOK won 3-2 at AEK Athens.
