West Ham's dilly-dallying could now cost Sullivan £25m as report makes new 25-yo transfer claim

West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan could be set to lose out massively in the summer transfer window.

The Hammers’ transfer business has been incredibly poor over the past few summer windows, after David Sullivan ceded control to Tim Steidten back in 2023, and David Moyes the year before that.

Graham Potter will now be working closely with Kyle Macaulay regarding transfers at West Ham, but Sullivan will obviously still have the final say.

Potter is said to be plotting a big squad rebuild at West Ham this summer.

And that’s exactly what the Hammers need. The current group is an incredibly unbalanced and ageing one.

One man in particular is said to be on the West Ham radar, but he won’t come cheap.

The annoying thing is that the Hammers could have signed him for absolutely nothing seven months ago.

West Ham’s Oumar Solet decision could cost David Sullivan £25m

Back in the summer of 2024, West Ham target Oumar Solet had his contract terminated by RB Salzburg.

The Hammers were interested in signing him at the time, but he ended up joining Udinese instead.

Oumar Solet has everything that Potter looks for in his central defenders, and it’s obvious to see why he might want to sign the Frenchman.

The 25-year-old centre-back has been superb for the Serie A outfit this season, and now West Ham are back in for him.

According to a report from Tuttomercatoweb, Potter will have to pay £25 million to bring Solet to the London Stadium this summer.

The Hammers are said to have already made contact with Udinese about prising Solet away from Stadio Friuli.

Oumar Solet stats

The former RB Salzburg man is an elite defender, and he’d be brilliant for the Hammers.

In 11 Serie A appearances for Udinese this season, Solet has averaged 1.5 tackles and 3.6 clearances per game.

During those outings he has made 59.6 passes on average per match, and has recorded a completion rate of 90.7% (Who Scored).

If West Ham manage to sign Oumar Solet for £25 million this summer, it would be a good value for money deal.

However, David Sullivan might not look at it that way!
