Fabrizio Romano reports that after Bukayo Saka makes his return to the pitch, the player and his agents will hold new conversations with Arsenal over a long-term contract extension.

Romano claims there’s “no rush”, as Saka’s current deal expires in June 2027, but conversations are set to begin shortly.

New sporting director Andrea Berta will be in charge of the negotiation process, one of his first big challenges after joining the club last week.

Saka is back in training with Arsenal after his three-month injury absence, with Arteta insisting he’s ready to return to action.

Romano describes the comeback as “imminent”, but whether or not that means he might be involved in Tuesday’s match against Fulham remains to be seen.

Saka was a key player for Arsenal before his injury, scoring nine goals and assisting 14 in 24 games in 2024/25.

The team have suffered at times in his absence, along with the absences of Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz, and Gabriel Jesus.

Yet Mikel Arteta’s side remain second in the Premier League table and in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. There’s still a lot for Saka to play for once he’s back.
