Mike Budenholzer has been the head coach of the Phoenix Suns for less than a season.
But if the playoffs do not go well, he could be out of a job.
According to Evan Sidery, “there is a growing sentiment around the NBA that Mike Budenholzer’s job security with the Suns is very much in danger.”
“If Phoenix indeed ends up firing Budenholzer in a few weeks, it would Mat Ishbia’s fourth head coach since becoming owner in 2023,” Sidery wrote.

This season has not gone as planned for the Suns.
This was supposed to be the year when they finally capitalized on the big three of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal.
Instead, they are the 11th seed in the West and hold a 35-40 record.
With Durant getting injured during Sunday’s game, there is a good chance the season could be over.
If that is the truth, Budenholzer should be prepared to have a very unpleasant conversation with the front office this summer.
The Suns have not transformed into the super team they were supposed to be, even after multiple coaches.
Owner Mat Ishbia has gone through several head coaches since buying the team, and none of them have delivered what the fanbase wants.
That is because the problems run deeper than who is in charge of the team.
Budenholzer has been a coach for years, leading the Atlanta Hawks and Milwaukee Bucks.
He is very accomplished and helped the Bucks win a championship in 2021.
But he hasn’t been able to get the Suns in the right shape, and his road may have come to an end in Phoenix.
