Report: Everton set for transfer battle with Marco Silva and Fulham to sign £8m defender

Everton will have many areas of the squad that need improvement in the summer, despite the bright form.

It’s hard to believe that the same squad under Sean Dyche is performing to a much higher standard under David Moyes.

Of course, methods have been changed, as the Scotsman will have no doubt got his identity and beliefs across to the players quickly.

Jake O’Brien who struggled under Dyche has been a changed player since the Everton boss’ arrivals as O’Brien praised Moyes for Everton’s possession.

The Toffees manager will now be looking to recruit and there is one player on his radar who has garnered plenty of interest.

Everton battle Marco Silva’s Fulham for Georgios Vagiannidis

A name maybe unheard of in the English game, but Georgios Vagiannidis is an emerging talent over in Greece.

The 23-year-old began at his current club, Panathinaikos, before making an ambitious move to Inter Milan, which didn’t quite work and sees him back at the Greek side.

Vagiannidis has shone both on the league stage but also in the Europa Conference League which seems the type of player Moyes is after.

Everton are reportedly in the picture to sign Vagiannidis, who has an £8m release clause, according to the Print Edition of O Jogo (31/03/25).

Sporting Lisbon appear to be the frontrunner, but the Toffees, Fiorentina, and Ajax are all keeping an eye on the defender.

It has also been reported by A Bola that former Toffees boss Marco Silva’s Fulham side are keen on the right-back, as Everton could have a transfer battle on their hands with a former employee.

Everton are in the market for defenders as Moyes has transfer plan

Moyes will be looking at all areas of the squad, but it’s clear he has a priority when it comes to transfers.

The Scotsman is looking into defenders, as Everton are set for wholesale changes in defence.

Due to the fact that Jarrad Branthwate’s future is up in the air, Moyes has taken the clever move to look into this department as the likes of Seamus Coleman and Ashley Young are also likely to be leaving in some capacity as well.

This is where Vagiannidis comes in, as he could be a reliable option that Moyes calls upon at right-back.
