West Ham make the trip to Molineux on Tuesday night to take on Wolves in their first game back from the international break.
When the Hammers faced Wolves back in December at the London Stadium, it was a game labelled ‘El Sackico’ with both Julen Lopetegui and Gary O’Neill under pressure.
Lopetegui and West Ham came out victorious, winning the game 2-1, but unsurprisingly both managers have been sacked from their respective clubs since.
Both clubs have had underwhelming seasons, with West Ham sitting in 16th and their opponents in 17th, but the pair will be looking to finish the season strongly with relegation looking unlikely.
The teams share similar form coming into the fixture, with both winning two of their last four games, but the Hammers are currently eight points better off than their opposition.
Graham Potter has faced numerous injuries since his arrival to East London in January, but he expects to have a strong squad for the visit to the West Midlands.
Potter announces Fullkrug return
Potter has stated that German international Niclas Fullkrug will ‘more than likely be in the squad’ for Tuesday night’s game after a lengthy injury which has seen the striker out since early January.
Fortunately for the Hammers, their internationals have all returned to the squad unscathed, meaning Potter will only be without Crysencio Summerville (hamstring) and Michail Antonio (leg) for the game.
Evan Ferguson scored on international duty for the Republic of Ireland, a moment which could certainly give the striker a boost in confidence.
However, his loan spell with the Hammers so far has been difficult, with the 20-year-old yet to start a game under Potter and unable to make a big impact off the bench, which has ultimately attracted some criticism.
Potter has defended his loanee in response to comments suggesting Ferguson’s loan has been a ‘failure’: “From our perspective, that’s unfair.
“You have to see the context of where he was and the minutes he’s played previously. To think you can just walk into a Premier League team and hit the ground running is difficult.
“We are happy with him. He is enjoying his time here and he is ready to help.”
With two potential strikers at Potter’s disposal for the trip to Wolves, Hammers fans will be hoping this means they might see some goals from their side, but more importantly a win.
