It didn’t quite get to Malice at the Palace levels, but former Nova Knick Donte DiVincenzo was at the center of a massive [brawl](https://nypost.com/2025/03/30/sports/donte-divincenzo-in-middle-of-ugly-timberwolves-pistons-brawl/) that broke out between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Detroit Pistons Sunday night in Minneapolis.
At the 8:36 mark of the second quarter, Minnesota’s Naz Reid drove into the lane, and Detroit’s Ron Holland applied a seemingly common foul on him.
But rather than walking to the stripe and taking his free throws, Reid took issue with Holland’s contest, quickly pointing a finger and saying some words to him.
Tempers flared quickly, and suddenly DiVincenzo found himself pushing and shoving in the middle of a fiery scrum which spilled over into the crowd, taking out a cameraman in the process.
Assistant coaches and referees inserted themselves swiftly to prevent any further escalation, but the damage was done for both teams, leading to a whopping seven total ejections (Reid, DiVincenzo and assistant coach Pablo Prigioni for the Wolves and Holland, Marcus Sasser, Isaiah Stewart and head coach J.B. Bickerstaff for the Pistons).
DiVincenzo, who was known as a scrappy player while with the Knicks, is no stranger to physical altercations on the court, perhaps most [memorably](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10112534-kelly-oubre-laughs-at-knicks-divincenzo-hartenstein-scuffle-nobodys-finna-fight?utm_source=chatgpt.com) when he took out Philadelphia Sixers small forward Kelly Oubre Jr.’s legs from under him during a meeting between New York and Philly in March 2024.
The ex-Knick has avoided being handed a suspension so far in his career, but it’s highly likely that DiVincenzo will be tabbed for one this time around.
It’s unclear what had been brewing between Holland and Reid/DiVincenzo before the altercation, but whatever the reasoning, it seems that both some members of the Timberwolves and Pistons will have some upcoming time off to think about the incident.
