Christian Eriksen is being lined up for a return to his former club Ajax according to the Eredivisie leaders' director of football.
The 33-year-old Denmark international is out of contract at Man United in June and, after silence from the club about their plans for the future, revealed two weeks ago that he is preparing to seek a new challenge abroad.
‘I haven't heard anything from the club, and therefore I assume that the collaboration will stop,' he said.
‘My contract expires this summer, and I'm prepared to find something new. I'm fine with that. Where it will be, I haven't decided yet'.
And Eriksen's imminent availability has caught the attention of Ajax where he spent three years, winning the Eredvisie title in each of his three seasons and scoring 25 goals in 113 appearances before moving to Tottenham in 2013.
'He is one of the players who has performed fantastically with us in the past that we are thinking about'" Ajax director of football Marijn Beuker told ESPN.

"There will be multiples in the media. Other names mentioned are those of Dusan Tadic and Daley Blind.'
Beuker, who was appointed as Ajax's sporting director in 2023, did stress however that the 33-year-old's return could not block an academy player's path to the first team.
'Such players are always an option,' he added.
'To look at it. It has to fit into the phase we are in, though. In the salary structure. You also don't want to block youth players coming up. That we are open to thinking about it is clear. Only it has to fit into the overall picture for the future.'
Eriksen has made just 14 appearances in all competitions under United boss Ruben Amorim since his appointment in November.
Ajax, captained by England midfielder Jordan Henderson, won 2-0 at PSV Eindhoven on Sunday to move nine points clear at the top of the table and strengthen their grip on what looks set to be a 37th Eredivisie title.
