'Strongly interested': League champions join transfer race to sign £29m Wolves star for free -…

Wolves’ squad could be looking a lot different for next season – and one key player has interest from multiple teams.

It is shaping up to be a very busy summer at Molineux, with a number of players set to depart.

Some are out of contract, and some could be sold for big money.

And one player who is likely to leave Wolves is Nelson Semedo, who has yet to agree fresh terms with the club and stands to leave when his currently deal expires this summer.

Semedo is one of Wolves’ highest earners.

And the suggestion has been that Wolves are looking to trim their wage bill down, although they are still hopeful of agreeing an extension for Semedo.

But Semedo has interest from his old club Benfica.

But Bruno Lage now has competition to sign the Wolves captain.

It has been reported by commentator Luis Pinto Coelho on X, and also the publication he has written for Bola Na Rede, that Inter Milan are now keen on Semedo as well.

Coelho stats that Inter are ‘strongly interested’ in the 31-year-old.

He says they are competing with Benfica to land Semedo, who cost Wolves around £29 million, for free this summer.

Inter, of course, are the reigning champions of Serie A, and are currently leading the way again this season having taken 69 points from their 30 games. They are three ahead of second-placed Napoli.

Pereira must prepare Pedro Lima amid Semedo uncertainty

It will be a blow if Wolves lose Semedo this summer, but there’s a very real chance of it happening.

The player will have been at Wolves for five years, and he is now 31. So he surely has to be thinking about one final big contract.

Seemingly if he stayed at Wolves he’d have to either take a pay-cut or stay on the same money.

With Wolves facing the possibility of losing Semedo, it will therefore be important for Pereira to start giving more minutes to Pedro Lima.

Lima hasn’t featured much so far this term which has been understandable given Wolves precarious position.

Dave Edwards reckons Lima should perhaps get more minutes from here now on in preparation for next season, just in case Semedo does depart, and it’s difficult to argue against that given the uncertainty.
