Members of the fledgling Nazi party in Germany, including Adolf Hitler, shown left, were sentenced on April 1, 1924, over the Beer Hall Putsch in Munich.
Hitler and his followers had attempted to overthrow the Bavarian government through insurrection but were swiftly arrested by police and troops.
Hitler was sentenced to five years in prison, but served only nine months, and used the time to dictate his political manifesto, Mein Kampf.
