The season has been an abysmal one for the Phoenix Suns.
After getting bounced from the playoffs early last season, many fans believed it to be a fluke and that this year would be a turnaround.
With players such as Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, it's not hard to see why fans were optimistic going into the season.
At 35-40, the Suns sit just 1.5 outside the No. 10 seed and the last spot in the NBA Play-In Tournament.
Suns get devastating Durant update
With just seven games remaining in the regular season, every game is important for the Suns.
The Suns had been rolling before a matchup with the Boston Celtics last Tuesday. They had won five out of their previous six before that matchup.
In that span, Durant had some massive scoring nights, including performances of 42 against the Eastern Conference's No. 1-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers, followed by a 38-point outing in a close win against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Following the loss to the Celtics, the Suns dropped their next two, including a 148-109 game against the Houston Rockets that saw Durant leave with an ankle injury.
In what was determined to be a left ankle sprain, Shams Charania gave an update on Durant's timetable.
"Durant is expected to miss a week through the team's three-game road trip with a left ankle sprain," reported Charania.
Phoenix Suns All-Star Kevin Durant is expected to miss at least one week through team's three-game road trip with a left ankle sprain, sources tell ESPN. Suns are 1.5 games out of Play-In with the toughest remaining schedule in the NBA.

Making the NBA Play-In Tournament was already going to be a tall task with Durant. Without him, others will surely have to step up.
The three-game road trip includes matchups against the Bucks, the Celtics and the New York Knicks before returning home and having to play the Golden State Warriors in a nationally-televised game.
Of the seven remaining games for the Suns, all but one are either currently in the playoffs or at least the Play-In Tournament.
