Trail Blazers’ Toumani Camara promotional video highlights Oregon football players

The Portland Trail Blazers posted a video promoting forward Toumani Camara for Defensive Player of the Year and it includes video clips of a couple former Oregon Ducks defensive backs.

“I watch a lot of defense, corners, DBs, the way they move their feet, or their footwork,” Camara says in the video. “It’s pretty impressive to me.”

The video uses quick-cut highlight clips of former Oregon defensive backs Jabbar Muhammad and Dontae Manning. Camara said he has noticed how defensive backs, including Oregon’s, sometimes celebrate making a big play.

“I saw a couple of celebrations and ‘The Box’ is one of them,” Camara said.

“The Box,” celebration entails a defensive back using both hands to draw an imaginary box in front of them. The implication is that they kept an offensive player in a box.

Camara went on to say he sees the court in two halves: frontcourt and backcourt.

“As a defender, you don’t really get to touch the basketball or the football a lot,” Camara said. “So, to be able to have an impact just wanting to stop somebody is huge.”

The video includes Camra also drawing the imaginary box.

“You know exactly what that means,” he says.
