Report: Norwich City 0-3 Arsenal U21s

Our under-21s produced a confident performance in Monday’s 3-0 win away to Norwich City at Carrow Road.

Goals from Michal Rosiak and Jimi Gower sent us into the half-time break with a two-goal lead under the lights, before Will Sweet headed in a third shortly after the break.

### WHAT HAPPENED

Dan Casey hit a first-time shot straight at Vincente Reyes early on following a nice cross into the box from Marcell Washington, and Casey’s following shot was blocked for an Arsenal corner.

Ismeal Kabia worked the ball out right to Nathan Butler-Oyedeji, who hit the bar from close range moments later, before Errol Mundle-Smith got in on goal at the other end, but Marli Salmon got across to block the shot.

Elliot Myles’ cross was then gathered by Tommy Setford, our goalkeeper beginning a counter-attacking move in the 12th minute as Kabia’s cross for Andre Harriman-Annous was struck towards the near post, only for Reyes to parry it behind.

Harriman-Annous got in on goal and pulled it back for Casey, and his first time shot was too soft to trouble Reyes, before Mundle-Smith nearly beat Setford at the near post, but saw his effort parried past the post.

Gower volleyed over from distance on the half-hour mark before we took the lead when set-piece specialist Rosiak smashed a free-kick into the top left corner for 1-0.

A right wing cross from Jack Henry-Francis then allowed Gower to head home from close range to increase our lead just before the interval.

Reyes made one more stop to deny Harriman-Annous following a Butler-Oyedeji delivery before the half-time whistle was blown in Norfolk.

Norwich had a great chance to pull one back early in the second half, Myles hitting the crossbar from close range courtesy of a block from Rosiak, with the  following corner headed into the side netting by Charlie Wilson.

Rosiak won us a corner at the other end with a shot from another Kabia cross, and Rosiak played it short to Gower, whose cross was headed back across goal into the bottom right by Sweet for 3-0.

Henry-Francis saw a shot from the edge of the area deflected high and wide and Harriman-Annous knocked a shot wide off the post as we continued to push for even more goals.

Dylan Jones did well to carry Norwich forward on the break before shooting straight at Setford and Khayon Edwards then curled one just wide after coming on as a substitute.

The hosts were unable to create any dangerous goalscoring opportunities though, and we came away from East Anglia with all three points and a clean sheet.
