Ex-NBA Player Details What Pistons’ Resurgence Means for NBA

The Detroit Pistons have been the surprise team in the NBA this season as they have completely turned their franchise around.

Of course, Detroit finished with the worst record in the league the last two seasons but that has changed this season as they currently sit fifth in the Eastern Conference standings with a 42-33 record.

Detroit has been on a tear lately as they have won six of their last 10 games although they are coming off a loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday night.

While the Pistons did lose on Sunday, the headline coming out of the game was the brawl that took place in the second quarter that led to multiple players being ejected and will likely result in suspensions for multiple players.

Despite that, Detroit is looking like their old selves when they were known as the "Bad Boy" Pistons where they are tough to play against because of how physical they are.

Former NBA player Chandler Parsons took not of this on Monday's episode of FanDuel's Run It Back show and gave his thoughts on what the Pistons' resurgence means for the NBA.

"Pistons are bringing back that Bad Boys mentality," Parsons said. "This is great for the league. More of this, less 3's."

Parsons makes a great point as the Pistons are a more physical team like they were in the 1980s and early 2000s and that it makes for better basketball than teams who chuck up a ton of threes every game.

He also mentioned how fights like the ones between the Pistons and Timberwolves can establish a balance in the NBA through being physical instead of taking a ton of threes.

While fights are not what the NBA wants to see, especially those that end up in the crowd like the one on Sunday, it shows just how intense the games are in the league and how physical the Pistons are playing this season, which could affect the rest of the NBA.
