Arsenal U21s are guaranteed a place in the end of season Premier League 2 playoffs following an impressive 3-0 victory away to Norwich City at Carrow Road tonight.

It was an evening brimming with positives for Mehmet Ali’s team, with Michal Rosiak, Jimi Gower and Will Sweet all on the scoresheet, with the latter registering his first goal at this level.

There was an U21s debut for midfielder Louie Copley, who featured as a substitute, while schoolboy defender Marli Salmon gave a good account of himself again.

Dan Casey made an impact as he made his first start at this level.

**Subs: Copley (for Gower, 62), Kamara (for Casey, 73), Edwards (for Harriman-Annous, 73). Not used: Ranson, Clarke.**

Arsenal appeared eager to make an instant impact with Marcell Washington, who remains on trial from Chelsea, sending in a cross towards Casey, whose shot was saved.

Nathan Butler-Oyedeji then rattled the crossbar with an effort after being found by Ismeal Kabia, with whom he had temporarily switched wings.

Salmon had to make an important defensive intervention at the other end before Andre Harriman-Annous and Casey had opportunities for Arsenal.

The lively Errol Mundle-Smith hit the post for Norwich but it was Arsenal who took the lead in the 33rd minute through a superbly-struck free-kick from Rosiak.

Just seven minutes later it was 2-0 as Jimi Gower got his first goal of the season with an impressive header after latching onto a precise delivery from captain Jack Henry-Francis.

Harriman-Annous had a shot saved after being found by Butler-Oyedeji, with Arsenal going into the break two goals to the good.

There was a concerning moment for Arsenal early in the second half as Norwich hit the crossbar.

However, Arsenal soon resumed control of proceedings with Sweet scoring his first goal for the U21s with a header.

Butler-Oyedeji had a shot saved before Copley made his U21s debut by replacing Gower.

Copley, who has often impressed for the U18s, was involved immediately as he found Harriman-Annous, whose shot was pushed behind for a corner.

Further changes followed as Khayon Edwards and Osman Kamara replaced Harriman-Annous and Casey.

Tommy Setford had to make a save late on before Edwards shot wide for Arsenal having been located by fellow substitute Kamara.

Coach Mehmet Ali will surely be very pleased with Arsenal’s performance, with the team containing an intriguing blend of experienced U21 players and some talented younger prospects.

After being eliminated in the quarter-finals of the play offs last season Arsenal will be eager to go all the way this time around.
