Watch Aaron Rodgers and DK Metcalf’s throwing session as Steelers wait for decision

Aaron Rodgers and DK Metcalf’s workout was not just a silent throwing session, but rather, one that garnered attention on UCLA’s campus. Videographer Alex Amen shot the video of Metcalf and Rodgers working together.

The one video that Amen released shows Rodgers working on under center play action and hitting Metcalf on a dig route, a staple in Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith’s scheme. That could seem a little coincidental, but the signs seem to be lining up that Rodgers is likely heading to Pittsburgh.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network revealed details on how this went down and exactly what the throwing sessions was all about.

"This was not a coincidence. This was a planned throwing session. It sounds like it went very well. From my understanding, it was lengthy. It probably is Aaron Rodgers last stop, he needs to make sure it’s right. If that includes throwing with the newly-acquired star receiver for the team, okay. It wasn’t much of a secret," Rapoport said.

After Rodgers visited the Steelers last Friday for six hours, this is now the latest sign that Rodgers and Pittsburgh could end up as a unit. Head coach Mike Tomlin stated that Rodgers and the organization remain in constant communication, which only adds more credence the idea Rodgers is opening up to the idea of joining the Steelers.

Still, there are concerns. In 2024, Rodgers played but was hampered by hamstring and knee issues. He missed most of the 2023 season with a torn achilles. That is not the recipe for success when the Steelers’ offensive line is still young and unproven.

Rodgers remains in no rush to decide, however. The Steelers have not pushed back on that, though, and any idea the team would give him major flak for taking time to decide has little credence.
