The Hammers head to Molineux for what many are considering to be a ‘dead rubber’ – certainly as far as the Irons are concerned. Safe from relegation – unlike their opponents tomorrow who are just nine points above their relegation rivals: West Ham however sit just five points off twelfth spot.
Plenty to play for, in terms of points and prestige. Hammers’ midfielder James Ward Prowse, speaking to whufc.com has admitted to his preoccupation with ‘that’ goal which he’s looking for to equal David Beckham’s record.
After an unsuccessful loan spell away with Nottingham Forest, Ward-Prowse seems far happier back in Claret and Blue. Having scored direct from the corner as a Hammer om a previous visit to Molineux, ‘JWP’ has good memories of taking on Wolves but he’s still ‘stuck’ one goal shy of the direct free kick record.

“It’d be nice to get another goal! I think my main goal was to obviously get back playing regularly and doing well.. the elusive [record-tying] free-kick goal still looms, which is something which I’m hoping will come, but I just want to enjoy my football again.”
Ward-Prowse is still looking for that record-equalling free kick
“I did score a good one there a few years back [in 2022]” It’s been a while since I’ve had one of them, so I’ll hopefully try and copy that one!”
From West Ham’s perspective, with the lowest ‘shots on target’ of any team in the Premier League, even just winning the free kick anywhere near the Wolves box will be a bonus compared with the defensively-minded outings of recent games. IN that respect, Ward-Prowse has suffered as much as the rest of the team from the lack of a fast-paced midfield department able to run directly at opponents in the final third and win those free kicks in the first place.
