The Man Utd star has been linked with a sensational summer transfer away from the club.

Ruben Amorim has emphatically ruled out a summer move for Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes amid recent reports linking him with a sensational switch to Real Madrid. The 30-year-old has been United's best player this season and looks certain to win the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award for the fourth time.

Even in a poor season, Fernandes has 16 goals and 16 assists for the club so far and is likely to play a key role in their pursuit of the Europa League trophy later this month. This form has led to reports linking him with another summer exit, after the midfielder admitted he received offers to leave Old Trafford a year ago.

Fernandes might never get the true appreciation he deserves due to the fact that he has played in underperforming sides that have not challenged for major honours regularly, something that could tempt him to explore new opportunities. Amorim is certain United can match his lofty ambitions, though, and says there is no way Fernandes will leave this summer.

Ruben Amorim rules out Manchester United summer exit

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest, Ruben Amorim ruled out the possibility of Bruno Fernandes leaving the club.

"No, it’s not going to happen," he replied when asked specifically about a move to Real Madrid. "That is the challenge. I want Bruno here because maybe in the lowest moments of our season he … we want to win the Premier League again so we want the best players to continue with us. He’s 29 I think (30) but he’s still so young because he plays 55 games every season and between assists and goals he’s there for 30 at least so he’s the type of player we want here so he’s not going anywhere.

"We are in control of the situation and I feel that he is really happy here especially because he understands what we want to do and then I think he is one more supporter of Man United. He really feels it. Sometimes the frustration that you see, that everybody sees and maybe says is not a good thing in a captain it’s a sign that he wants this so bad. This is the kind of player that we want and he’s not going anywhere because I’ve already told him!"
