Walker Kessler Wants To Remain With Utah Jazz
With Kessler wrapping up his third season in the NBA, the former first-round draft pick is eligible to open contract extension talks with the Jazz this summer.
Though any new agreement wouldn’t kick in until the 2026-27 season, the two sides can come to terms on the contract this offseason.

“We’ve definitely had discussions about it, but until there’s writing in paper, there can’t be any certainty on what that figure is,” Kessler said. “But I know that I want to be here, and I know that the Jazz have voiced that they want me as well.”
Kessler has developed into one of the league’s top young centers this season, averaging 11.1 points and 12.2 rebounds. The Auburn product is also on pace to lead the NBA in offensive rebounds and blocks per game, and was the league leader in field goal percentage until the Jazz began experimenting with the center’s three-point shooting abilities.
Kessler Happy Living In Utah
Not only has Kessler found his comfort zone on the floor, he’s enjoyed living in Utah as well.
“I love this community,” Kessler said. “I think this fan base is the best fan base in the country, so I think it’ll be a home for me.”
Though his current contract doesn’t allow it, the center has plans for his life in Utah after his playing days are done.
“The mountains are beautiful — when I’m done playing, I will definitely be skiing here,” Kessler added. “Obviously [I] can’t do that right now, but they’re incredible. And I want to get into fly fishing, which I haven’t done.”
