Bucs GM Addresses Cornerback Depth for 2025

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have made some impressive offseason moves so far, and general manager Jason Licht has been praised for his work.

After returning all 11 offensive players from the No. 3-ranked unit a season ago, the Buccaneers will have a defensive focus in this year's draft while also adding depth to the roster.

One of the needs Licht and the team will address will be cornerback.

Current corner Jamel Dean has experienced injuries the past two seasons and has not been as productive as needed, as the Auburn product has missed nine games over the past two seasons

After signing a four-year, $52 million deal two offseasons ago, but has posted just one interception during that time.

It's an area of concern that Licht will need to address sooner than later, meaning Dean could be a trade or cut candidate.

Licht spoke to reporters at the league meetings on Monday and addressed his thoughts on the Dean situation.

"So, Jamel, he's had some injuries the last couple of years. He was a really good player not too long ago," Licht said. "He has high expectations for himself, and we have high expectations for him. We feel good about Jamel."

Licht makes it seem that he sees Dean in the immediate plans for the defense, meaning he wants him here. But for Dean to have the impact the team needs, he's going to have to remain healthy and make himself available.
