Former NFL superstar Richard Sherman and his family dealt with a terrifying incident over the weekend as his home was "robbed at gun point."
Sherman took to social media on Monday to share a few photos and a video that shows what appears to be three armed burglars at his Washington state mansion over the weekend.
In the photos and video, the men can be seen wearing jackets and facemasks while holding guns. One of them appears to be holding a duffle bag, presumably to hold the things they took from the house.
"House being robbed at gun point with my family in it isn't what anyone wants for a birthday gift," Sherman wrote in a post on X on Monday. "Scary situation that my Wife handled masterfully and kept my kids safe. If anyone has any info that can help find these people please reach out."
When a follower on social media encouraged Sherman to protect himself with a firearm, Sherman pointed out that he didn't exactly want shooting to break out with his children in the house, even if he was protecting himself.
"Guns help but bullets flying from me or them in a house with my kids is not where I'm trying to be," Sherman wrote.
Sherman went on to tell another person that police believe the thieves hit a total of five homes in the area.
The incident took place on Saturday, which was just one day before Sherman's 37th birthday, which he celebrated on Sunday.
According to a report from TMZ, police are currently investigating the incident, but they could not offer any other details besides that there is "currently an open and active investigation."
Sherman had a dominant NFL career, spending time with the Seattle Seahawks, the San Francisco 49ers, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was a three-time All-Pro and a five-time Pro Bowler during his playing career.
