NBA G League Players ‘Ready’ To Bolster Heat For Their NBA Playoffs Push

To say that the Miami Heat seem to always be shorthanded is an understatement. The squad is missing key contributors like Andrew Wiggins, Alec Burks, and Duncan Robinson. This, however, does not concern Coach Erik Spoelstra too much because he knows that their two-way players from the NBA G League are ready to step up.

The Heat really have a strong culture of developing players, whether it's on the main team or the Sioux Skyforce. This has been the biggest safety net for the team that's why they are not in a state of panic despite the amount of concerning injuries hitting the team.

Coach Erik Spoelstra even noted that these NBA G League players could be playing vital roles for them with only eight games remaining in the season, via Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald.

"They're ready. They just have to be plug-and-play if they do get an opportunity. The way things have gone with guys out, those minutes could be available. They're ready physically, mentally, emotionally. Everybody is disappointed they didn't make the playoffs but they made a heck of a run," the Heat head honcho said.

Dru Smith, Josh Christopher, Isaiah Stevens, and Keshad Johnson have all moved up to the main Heat roster from the NBA G League squad. They have filled the gaps of all the missing players well and played big minutes for Coach Spoelstra.

Their ability to become effective spark plugs who have well-rounded styles of play has helped them reach this far in the Heat rotation. Hopefully, their contracts become standard such that they get the opportunity to play in the association more.
