Jets’ ‘Silence’ Approach To Offseason ‘By Design’

The New York Jets' offseason has been one of little fanfare, bells and whistles, no drama, no nothing under new head coach Aaron Glenn.

And it's exactly how he wants it to be.

After two years of what could be described as a circus with Aaron Rodgers and everything that came with having the four-time NFL MVP winner in the building, the Jets are taking a different approach this offseason.

The signings of Justin Fields, Andre Cisco, and Brandon Stephens weren't big, flashy moves, but ones made with a clear direction in mind.

And for Glenn, the lack of attention and media spotlight on his first NFL offseason is exactly how he planned it to be.

"It is by design," Glenn said. "Listen, I'm just a huge believer in just moving in silence and you let things play out the way they need to play out. Let's just make the moves we need to make. This doesn't need to be a big hoopla with what we're doing.

"We're just going to go about our business and coach these players and try to create an atmosphere for the players that's totally different than what they've probably been used to. And that's something I want to create just in general. What type of players we bring in the building and the building environment for the most part, but we want to move in silence, and just go about our business and go win some games."

For Gang Green, that is a breath of fresh air after the last two seasons.

Of course, the fix won't be instant, but Glenn is doing his best to keep things on the straight and narrow, as this troubled ship was in serious trouble when he took over, but it appears he's got the right plan to steer it to calmer waters.

And moving in silence might be the best way to do that.

There's no drama or storylines. It's just a franchise looking to turn things around after a tough 24 months, and it is doing so out of the spotlight as the new regime's vision begins to take shape.

Silence, my friends, is golden.
