Four-star RB Javian Osborne eliminates Texas from consideration

The Longhorns experienced some attrition on their coaching staff this offseason, when they lost Tashard Choice and Terry Joseph to the NFL, and needless to say it was something that would eventually result in some headwinds on the recruiting trail.

One recruitment that was impacted by the departure of Tashard Choice was that of four-star running back Javian Osborne. The Longhorns were heavily in the mix for Osborne and were pegged to be in the top two right along with Michigan, but Choice leaving for Detroit shook things up.

Osborne announced this evening that he has narrowed down his recruitment to two finalists in Michigan and [Notre Dame](https://www.onefootdown.com), which effectively announces that the Longhorns are no longer in contention for his commitment.

With Osborne trending towards out of state powers, Texas has wisely ramped up its efforts with guys like Ezavier Crowell and KJ Edwards. The Longhorns remain in a good spot for Edwards and recently hosted Crowell for an unofficial visit and are scheduled to host him in the summer for an official visit.

While being out of contention for Osborne is certainly a bummer, new running backs coach Chad Scott still has some very solid options that remain on the board as we head towards the official visit window in the summer.
