Man Utd could lose four players for free in the summer transfer window.

Ruben Amorim has hinted Manchester United could wait to discover if they are in the Champions League next season before offering new deals to four players who are out of contract at the end of the season.

Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans and Tom Heaton are all set to become free agents this summer, unless they agree new terms with the club, with their current deals due to expire in June. Evans, 37, and Heaton, 38, could both retire from professional football at the end of the season, though Eriksen and Lindelof are both keen to keep playing and will prioritise playing time in the twilight of their careers.

It seems unlikely any of the quartet will be offered new terms at Old Trafford, though Amorim refused to rule out new contracts entirely until they know the state of play for the new campaign. United are set for their lowest ever Premier League finish and will only qualify for Europe if they win the Europa League this season.

Ruben Amorim offers update on four Manchester United players

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the trip to face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, head coach Ruben Amorim was quizzed on the four players who are set to become free agents this summer.

"We will see," he told reporters. "We are thinking about next season, but we have a lot of things to do. We know that Europa League can change a lot of things in our club. We are focused on the present, not just on the future."

Another aspect for Amorim to consider is the form of current loanees Marcus Rashford and Antony, who have both rediscovered their confidence since leaving the club on loan in the January transfer window. It is understood the duo will both be available for sale in the summer, though the United head coach could be tempted to offer them a pathway back into the squad if they maintain their current levels.

Quizzed on the possible return of Rashford, Amorim added: "I know Rashford really well and everybody knows the talent that he has. So I already spoke about that. He’s a top player, if he wants. So I’m not surprised and it’s the same with Antony. It’s a good thing we see our players doing well on loan in a different context. That can happen. It’s a good sign for the club. Guys, let’s focus on the game. We are really happy for our players that are on loan doing well. I’m planning the future but I don’t want to talk about the future in this moment. I just want to focus on the game."
