Georgia Makes Increased Push to Land Coveted Star

The Georgia Bulldogs are losing several key players to the 2025 NFL draft. This is nothing new for head coach Kirby Smart given the program's recent success and the Dawgs attempt to reload each offseason primarily through recruiting.

Georgia has faced recent setbacks in recruiting, including three-star defensive lineman Stephon Shivers' flip to the Florida Gators and five-star EDGE Jarred Smith choosing the Auburn Tigers. All this means it is better to be early on the top propsects.

The Dawgs are now pushing to gain ground on a four-star offensive lineman. Maxwell Hiller from Coatesville Area High School in Coatesville (Pa.), just received a scholarship offer from Georgia offensive line coach Stacy Searels. The 6-foot-5, 300-pound prospect is the No. 1 ranked interior offensive lineman in the 2027 class, per On3.

247Sports has Hiller rated as the No. 16 recruit in the 2027 class as well as the top player in Pennsylvania. Besides the Bulldogs, the standout lineman boasts 25 offers from other schools, per 247sports. On3 predict the Penn State Nittany Lions has a 91.4% chance to get a commitment from Hiller.

Projections this early do not hold a lot of value but do show what schools are pursuing recruits the hardest. Additionally, the Alabama Crimson Tide is also in the mix, hosting several young prospects on March 31, including Hiller.

The standout visited Georgia on March 29, after which he posted on X: "After an amazing conversation with @SSearels @coachKub_70 blessed to have received OFFER from UGA!!"

James Morgan from UGA Wire wrote on Sunday:

"Georgia currently does not have a commitment from any recruit in the class of 2027. It is a long way off in the 2027 recruiting cycle, but it is a good sign for head coach Kirby Smart and company that Hiller is already visiting UGA."

Georgia faces competition from other marquee programs like the Ohio State Buckeyes, who took a visit to Pennsylvania while keeping the tackle on their radar.
