Chiefs give timeline for stadium decision, touch on potential for a Super Bowl in Kansas

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Kansas City Chiefs Owner and CEO Clark Hunt attended the NFL owners meeting in Florida where he spoke about future stadium plans for the winningest franchise this decade. These plans include a possible move to Kansas.

Hunt said the team is hopeful it will have a plan this summer. He said the Chiefs are still considering a renovation at Arrowhead Stadium and developing around it, but another option is to build a new stadium west, on the Kansas side. A new stadium would likely be a dome.

The Chiefs are considering multiple sites and if the team pursues a future in a new stadium, it could bring a Super Bowl to Kansas. That stadium would also be a strong candidate to host the NCAA Tournament Final 4, Big 12 championship games and more.

Information laid out in the discussions about Kansas City’s stadium future shows that a new stadium would likely cost about $3 billion, while an Arrowhead renovation would be about $1 billion.
