The Englishman was one of three players left out of the starting XI that faced Man City having started against the Bees before the international break, with Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez suspended.
Andoni Iraola confirmed Tavernier was injured – but said it shouldn’t be a long spell on the sidelines for him.
“He was injured against Brentford,” Iraola said.
“He finished with issues around the ankle and I don't think for long, but definitely I think it's going to be difficult this week because we are playing basically two games in five days.
“So I think it's going to be difficult.”
