Jordan Poole Speaks Out On His Historic Wizards Accomplishment

Jordan Poole has etched his name into the Washington Wizards' history books. The shifty guard drained seven three-pointers against the Miami Heat on Monday night. With those three-pointers, Poole broke the Wizards' single-season record for most three-pointers in a season with 228, surpassing Bradley Beal's previous record.

After the game, Poole talked about him breaking the single-season record for the Wizards. The former NBA champion admitted that breaking the record was one of his goals coming into the season, and that he worked hard to get to that position.

"Huge accomplishment, it was a goal at the beginning of the year," Poole said, per Chase Hughes. "A lot of hard work went into it."

Poole has been the first option for the Wizards in the last few years. While he had a rough first season in DC, the guard has adjusted pretty well in his second season with the team. This season, Poole is averaging 20.5 points per game on 43% shooting from the field and a blistering 38.1% from beyond the arc. He's also added 4.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game, showing more facets to his game than just his scoring.

Unfortunately, Poole's production has not quite translated to wins for the Wizards yet. Washington has one of the worst records in the NBA at 16-59, and they're once again set to pick in the lottery in the offseason. Still, between Poole's great season and the leaps their young players have taken this year, Washington is on track to make a major improvement next season.
