Liverpool are reportedly keeping a close eye on Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie, according to Sky Sports Germany.
With a potential reshuffle in their defense, the Reds are looking to bolster their options at centre-back ahead of the summer transfer window.
The club is preparing for possible departures in that area, with Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah both linked with moves away. Newcastle United, in particular, have expressed interest in Gomez, which could prompt Liverpool to act quickly in strengthening their backline.
Currently, Arne Slot’s side is limited to just four senior center-backs, so they need to add depth to the squad.
In addition to Hincapie, Liverpool are reportedly considering other targets. Among them is Dean Huijsen of Bournemouth and Spain, who has impressed with his performances.
But his services are also being pursued by several top clubs, including Real Madrid. Despite this, Hincapie remains an attractive option for the Merseyside club.

Rise of Piero Hincapie and rumours of Liverpool
Piero Hincapie has become a key figure at Bayer Leverkusen since joining the club in 2021. His versatility and consistent performances have made him a standout player, and he was instrumental in their title-winning campaign under Xabi Alonso last season.
At just 23 years old, Hincapie has already made 37 appearances this season, contributing three goals and two assists. His ability to play both as a centre-back and a left-back adds to his appeal.
Leverkusen are reportedly planning to sign Swiss defender Albian Hajdari in the summer, a move that could be linked to their intention to eventually replace Hincapie.
The Ecuadorian defender’s future is now a topic of major interest, with both Liverpool and Real Madrid keen on securing his signature.
Hincapie, whose contract runs until 2029 after a recent renewal in December 2023, is expected to command a significant fee, although Leverkusen have not yet indicated how much they would demand for his transfer.
Liverpool’s interest in the Ecuadorian is not new. The club previously sent scouts to watch Hincapie last year, a clear indication of their ongoing admiration for his talent.
