How Arsenal Have Lined-up Recently

David Raya started as Arsenal beat Chelsea 1-0 in their last match. He kept a clean sheet supported by his defenders Jurrien Timber, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes and Myles Lewis-Skelly.

Captain Martin Odegaard started in midfield and got the assist for the winner. Thomas Partey and Declan Rice played alongside him.

Mikel Merino flicked home the winner from Odegaard’s corner on his sixth successive start. He was flanked by Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.

Arsenal Recent Form and Tactics

Arsenal’s win last time out helped turn their waning form around, with the club’s recent form now three wins, two draws and one loss.

Arteta praised his side’s defensive abilities after the Chelsea win: “We had to drive back 70 metres and on that face probably we’ve been one of the best teams in the world today because we were unbelievable the way we’ve done it. We haven’t conceded almost anything apart from that strange save from David I would say, and that’s a big credit to the team because in my opinion they are the best attacking team in the league.”

The only real complaint Arteta had about his side was the number of missed chances. Despite all the injuries to their attacking players, Arsenal have scored 53 goals in 29 league games which is the third-best record in the league. But the real strength to the Gunners this season is their defence having conceded the least number of goals in the Premier League so far (24).

Arsenal Injuries and Absentees to Consider

Every Arsenal fan was waiting for this star’s return; Arteta has not only confirmed that Bukayo Saka is fit and ready to play, but that he could even start against Fulham.

Areteta said: “Bukayo is ready to go.

“It’s another massive weapon that we have with him. We know the impact that he’s had on the team and how important his role and his contribution is to our success. So great to have him back, obviously.”

But as Saka returns from injury, the Gunners suffer another in Riccardo Calafiori. The Italian slipped and fell awkwardly, injuring his knee. Initially, it was suspected that Calafiori could miss a whole month of action, but Arteta’s latest update suggests the recovery time may just be a “matter of weeks”.

Jurrien Timber should also be available for Arsenal despite struggling with illness over the international break.

There are still several other injured Gunners players including Gabriel Jesus, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kai Havertz.
