Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim shuns the idea of letting captain and midfielder Bruno Fernandes leave the club next season. Fernandes has played a crucial role for the Reds Devils since joining the club in 2020, earning the club’s armband.
However, Man United have struggled immensely despite having a managerial change in the middle of the current season. Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag, who failed to rejuvenate the Red Devils this season despite winning last season’s FA Cup.
Amorim has started his tenure with numerous troubles, not enjoying the honeymoon period that every new manager usually enjoys. Players perform better after a managerial change to impress the new boss but that has failed to happen at United.

United have won only 13 games from 28 matches in all competitions under Amorim, already losing 10 and drawing five. The Portuguese boss’ desire to fit the available player in his 5-4-1 formation has played a significant factor in the team’s struggle.
Nevertheless, Fernandes has continued to rally his team with essential match-winning performances, displaying an incredible level of consistency. The Portugal international has 16 goals and 16 assists from 44 games in all competitions for United this season.
Speaking in the pre-match press conference (via Fabrizio Romano’s X account), Amorim shuns the idea of letting Fernandes leave United next summer. He said:
“Bruno will not leave. He’s 30 but he’s still so young because he plays 50, 55 games every season. Between assists and goals, he’s there for 30 at least. So he’s the type of player that we want here, he’s not going anywhere”.
Amorim has the daunting task of signing the players that suit his system while filtering out the surplus ones. United are 13th in the Premier League with the Europa League as their only hope for next season’s European qualification.
