Man City confirm Haaland to see specialist for ankle injury

Manchester City have confirmed that Erling Haaland suffered an injury to his left ankle during the 2-1 FA Cup quarter-final win at AFC Bournemouth on Sunday.

The Norwegian was substituted in the 61st minute, having scored the equaliser with his 30th goal of the season in all competitions, as City came from behind to secure a semi-final meeting with Nottingham Forest.

Haaland appeared to catch his ankle while crashing into the advertising boards on the side of the pitch and was later seen in a protective boot and on crutches as he headed for the team bus.

A statement on Man City's official website says: "Erling underwent initial tests in Manchester on Monday morning and will now seek specialist consultation to confirm the full extent of the injury.

"Assessment remains ongoing to ascertain a full prognosis. The expectation is that Erling will be fit in time to play a further part in the remainder of this season, including this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup."

Man City boss Pep Guardiola is expected to give more information on Haaland's injury at his press conference which begins today at 12.30pm.

Man City are back in Premier League action on Wednesday when they host Leicester City.
