Will Bukayo Saka Play Against Fulham - Arteta Reveals Fresh Injury Update

Mikel Arteta has said that winger Bukayo Saka is fit to play against Fulham for Arsenal after being out injured since December.

Saka suffered a hamstring injury against Crystal Palace in December and has been a huge loss for the Gunners, who have all but been eliminated from the Premier League title race.

He has been recovering and after missing out on Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad, he looks set for a return against Fulham in Arsenal’s next game.

The Gunners face a home game against Marco Silva’s side on Tuesday night, as they look to come back out of the international break with a win at the Emirates.

Ahead of the game, Arteta spoke to the media on Monday morning revealing that Saka should be available. He said: “Bukayo is ready to go. The careful things are already done, so now it’s about putting him on the grass in the right moments, but he is pushing because he really wants it.

“We have respected the time-frame, we have done everything. We had to hold him back even, so now he is ready to go. We know the impact he has had on the team and how important his role and his contribution is to our success, so it’s great to have him back.”

Could Saka start up front for Arsenal?

The biggest problem that Mikel Arteta has at the moment is that he doesn’t have a fit striker in his squad. He has instead been playing Mikel Merino at the striker position.

Merino has done okay in the role, but seeing as Saka is set to return, the Arsenal boss could decide to play him up front, in order to ensure that the likes of Ethan Nwaneri and Leandro Trossard still get game time.

Saka has plenty of goal-scoring pedigree as he has scored 67 goals so far in his Arsenal career, so Arteta could decide to play him up front.
