Barcelona will reportedly look to sign 26-year-old Kosovar international Edon Zhegrova from Ligue 1 club LOSC Lille in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Edon Zhegrova is the subject of interest from FC Barcelona. The Catalan giants are scouring the market for a wide attacker heading into the summer transfer window and have set their sights on the LOSC Lille winger. The Ligue 1 top-four hopefuls will demand around €30 million to part ways with Kosovar international.
Edon Zhegrova and his career so far
Edon Zhegrova has established himself as one of the most dependable wide attackers in Ligue 1 since joining LOSC Lille from FC Basel in January 2022. A native of Herford, he was eligible to represent Germany and Kosovo in international football and has picked the latter as his national side.
The 26-year-old began his formative years in Kosovo, passing through the academies at KF Flamurtari and FC Prishtina. However, Zhegrova ended his youth career in Belgium after representing Standard Liege and St. Truiden, graduating from the academy of the latter club. However, the player has risen in prominence in France after struggling for relevance in Belgium and Switzerland.
The Kosovar international has enjoyed a solid 2024/25 campaign, contributing to ten goals in 21 appearances across all competitions, finding the back of the net eight times and providing two assists. However, Zhegrova has informed LOSC Lille that he will not sign a new contract with the Ligue 1 club, with the situation capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe, including Barcelona.
La Liga adventure beckoning?
Barcelona’s interest in Edon Zhegrova is understandable. The Catalan giants are scouring the market for a wide attacker heading into the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term futures of Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres.
So, several candidates, including Luis Diaz, have emerged on Barcelona’s radar, with Zhegrova also a viable target. The LOSC Lille wide player’s contract situation means he will not cost a bomb, with the Ligue 1 club demanding around €30 million to part ways with him.
However, Barcelona will face stiff competition from several well-known clubs across Europe, with recent reports linking him with Chelsea. It will be interesting to see if the Blaugrana can sign the 26-year-old Kosovar international from Lille in the summer transfer window.
