Dave Edwards is the latest Wolves figure to react to Matheus Cunha’s transfer admission.

As Wolves steer further away from the relegation zone, the forward deemed it appropriate to discuss his transfer wishes in an interview with The Guardian.
Cunha suggested that he’s ready to leave Wolves in the summer in search of a new challenge, sparking debate amongst fans.

Wolves fans questioned Cunha for the timing of his interview and his transfer admission, making it known that they were not pleased with the player’s actions.
As the talk about the 25-year-old’s future heated up once his thoughts were aired, Cunha urged fans to read the whole interview, emphasising that his transfer comment was a small part of a discussion that put Wolves on a pedestal.
Vitor Pereira responded to Cunha’s interview, and now club icon Dave Edwards has shared his belief that Wolves can’t stop their star man from leaving.
“He [Cunha] said he wants to win titles and be competing at the top end,” Edwards said to Express and Star.

“I don’t think Wolves could ever be in a position to hold him back from that, but we should be really proud that we’ve been able to give Matheus Cunha the platform to go and showcase his ability.”
Edwards doubted that Wolves could ever hold Cunha back from fulfilling the next steps of his career, with the player making his plans known ahead of the summer window.
High expectations for Cunha’s replacement
Having starred in a relegation-threatened campaign for Wolves, it’s natural that Cunha wants to move on.
The frustration with the interview lies in the forward’s decision to air such comments before the season has ended, with there still very much a task to tackle.
