Liverpool are not keen on losing rising star defender Jarell Quansah in the upcoming summer transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
The 22-year-old was a target for Newcastle last term when the Reds worked on a deal to sign winger Anthony Gordon.
Widespread reports have suggested Quansah has now re-emerged on the Magpies’ radar ahead of the next transfer window in the off-season.
However, it is believed Liverpool are reluctant to lose the Warrington-born ace – who is under contract at Anfield until June 2029.
Liverpool reluctant to lose Newcastle target Quansah
The Reds have question marks over the futures of centre-back duo Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate – and are unwilling to weaken their options at this time.
Quansah is set to remain part of Arne Slot‘s squad despite a series of sticky moments since the Dutch boss took charge on Merseyside last summer (2024).

The youngster suffered the ignominy of being hooked at half-time in Slot’s first game against Ipswich last year (2024).
He has featured sparingly since then, making 22 appearances across all competitions this term but starting in just 11 of those outings.
Quansah has played both as a centre-back and right-back for Liverpool after being given his first-team debut in August 2023.

Liverpool set sights on Cunha swoop
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (1 April) that Liverpool are watching Wolves star Matheus Cunha ahead of a potential summer swoop.
Darwin Nunez is the first player in line to leave Anfield and Cunha could fit the bill as an ideal replacement for the Uruguayan forward.
The 25-year-old Brazil international signed a new contract at Molineux in February but has already announced publicly that he wants to move on in a huge development.
