Arsenal are planning to offer Bukayo Saka a “mega-money” new contract and plan to hold talks in the coming weeks, sources have told Football Insider.

The 23-year-old’s current contract is set to run until 2027, but the Gunners are determined to tie down his long-term future as the face of the club.

Meanwhile, his lengthy absence through injury has highlighted his importance in Mikel Arteta’s side as their league title push stuttered in recent months.

In 24 appearances across all competitions this season, the winger has scored nine goals and provided 14 assists as well as providing a key driving force for their attack.

Initial fears that Saka could miss the rest of the season through injury have been squashed as he is eyeing a return in Arsenal’s Premier League clash v Fulham on 1 April.

If that return goes as planned, he will then be fit to face Real Madrid across both legs of their crucial Champions League quarter-final clash.

Bukayo Saka and Ethan Nwaneri eye new Arsenal contracts

Saka remains a valuable part of Arteta’s plans as they look to continue their ambitions of winning the Premier League title in the coming seasons.

The lack of a competitive backup for the right-wing position has been questioned as a result of his recent injury as many feared he could become burnt out.

However, his role in the side cannot be understated and is valued incredibly highly by Arsenal, despite the emergence of Ethan Nwaneri during his absence.

The 18-year-old has made 29 appearances across all competitions this season, scored eight goals and provided one assist.

Arsenal also want to reward Nwaneri with a new contract amid interest from Man City in a potential swoop, as they see him playing a key role in the future of Arteta’s side.

Mikel Arteta plans recruitment this summer after Cunha latest

After a frustrating season so far at Arsenal, despite their Champions League progress, Arteta is putting plans in place to strengthen his options in attack.

Injuries to Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz highlighted their lack of depth, and it has now become their priority ahead of the summer.

Football Insider revealed on 1 April that Liverpool and Arsenal want Wolves star Matheus Cunha after his recent admission about his future at Molineux.

Meanwhile, the Gunners have also targeted deals to sign RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko, Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres and even a potential move for Harry Kane.
