Jordan Poole Breaks Wizards Single Season Three Point Record

It was a matter of time before Jordan Poole started to write his name in the Washington Wizards' record books after two seasons with the organization. His first feat finally came when he surpassed Bradley Beal as the Wizards player with the most three-pointers made in a single season in franchise history.

History

Poole reached the mark of 224 in the Wizards' loss against the Miami Heat at Capital One Arena, surpassing Beal's record of 223 threes made. Beal had previously broken his own record when he scored 209 threes in one season, while Gilbert Arenas rounds out the top 4 with 205 threes made in one of the eight seasons he played with Washington.

Poole arrived in Washington as part of the trade that sent Chris Paul to the Golden State Warriors, and since then, he's had the ultimate green light—becoming the team's leader despite being just 25 years old and already having an NBA Championship under his belt with Golden State in 2022.

This season, he is averaging 20.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 42.7% from the field and 37.7% from three-point range in 64 games.

Poole was the 28th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft out of Michigan, and although he's posted impressive numbers in his sixth season in the league, the Wizards haven't translated that productivity into wins, sitting as the 15th seed in the Eastern Conference with a 16-58 record in 74 games.
