“Contacts already initiated” – Desire to sign Liverpool player, possible Reds profit

Federico Chiesa scored for Liverpool in the Carabeo Cup final three weeks ago.

While this should have ideally silenced the rumours about his exit from Anfield, nothing of that sort has happened so far.

Last week, it was reported that Arne Slot’s side could be willing to let the winger depart on an initial loan deal with the option to buy.

It’s now claimed contact has been made for the Italian’s exit from Liverpool and the club in question is AS Roma.

La Repubblica journalist Giulio Cardone has stated that manager Claudio Ranieri is key in the Italian giants’ approach for the 27-year-old, regarding a summer transfer.

He said, via ASRomaLive: “A mission that Ranieri has in mind is to regenerate Federico Chiesa.

Cardone added: “Contacts have already been initiated for the loan of the player from Liverpool to Roma . We will see if it is a negotiation that can develop and in what way.”

So far, Chiesa has played only 11 times in all competitions and has two goals and two assists to his name for Liverpool.

That isn’t how he would have wanted his stint at Anfield to pan out, when he joined for a bargain fee from Juventus in the summer.

Having said that, a sale could benefit Liverpool because the Italy international joined for only £12.5m and this can make it easier for them offload him and potentially earn a profit from the sale.

Salary may be an issue, though.
