Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has spoken out on manager Ruben Amorim ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League encounter with Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.
The Red Devils are back in action for the first time since the end of the March international break and Manchester United will now visit City Ground.
Ruben Amorim’s men are 13th in the Premier League table and United have only managed 10 wins in 29 league matches in the 2024-25 campaign.
United have struggled with their Premier League campaign this season and the Red Devils are 12 points behind the top four with only nine league matches remaining.
Amorim’s men have not played a match since United’s comfortable 3-0 victory over Leicester City in the Premier League at the King Power Stadium last month.
The 40-year-old United manager is expected to see the pressure intensify in the coming weeks amid the Red Devils’ crucial Europa League campaign.
United will return to Europa League action this month with their two-leg quarter-final encounter against Lyon, with a place in the semi-finals hanging in the balance.

What Paul Merson has seen from Ruben Amorim ahead of Nottingham Forest vs Man Utd in the Premier League
Speaking in his column for Sportskeeda, Paul Merson has admitted that he has started to see Manchester United click “here and there” under Ruben Amorim.
The 57-year-old Arsenal legend added that Amorim, who arrived at Old Trafford from Sporting CP in 2024, has shown some “visible” changes for the Red Devils.
“Nottingham Forest just keep going on and on, don’t they? Semi-final in the FA Cup, third in the league,” Merson said.
“If you said this at the start of the season, no-one would even believe [it]! It’s just absolutely phenomenal from them.
“Manchester United are clicking here and there. I wouldn’t say everything is right with them, but it’s certainly better than how it was in the past.
“Ruben Amorim is doing a decent job, some amount of change is definitely visible at Old Trafford.”

Paul Merson highlights Bruno Fernandes under Ruben Amorim amid his Nottingham Forest vs Man Utd prediction
Bruno Fernandes has remained as influential as ever in the United first team and Merson praised the impact that the Red Devils captain has had on Amorim’s side.
“I believe Bruno Fernandes has been Manchester United’s best player this whole time,” Merson continued.
“He’s been steady and the catalyst during a very poor season for the club. Manchester United need seven or eight new players though!
“They are so far behind the other teams at the moment and this whole summer rebuild is a worrying concern for them because they have to get it right. Forest, with the way they are playing, I think they will finish inside the top five.
“This is a tough game for Nuno Espirito Santo’s high-flying men, but I don’t think Manchester United can beat them.”
Merson predicted that Forest and United will share the Premier League points on Tuesday evening and has backed a 1-1 scoreline at City Ground.
