Samsung’s mobile chief just got a much larger responsibility

Samsung's current mobile chief, TM Roh, will now lead the entire devices and appliances division. Last week, JH Han, the previous head of Samsung DX (Devices and Digital Appliances business), died due to a heart attack. Today, Samsung announced that TM Roh will now take JH Han's position.

TM Roh takes the place of JH Han to lead Samsung DX

Earlier today, Samsung announced that TM Roh, who currently leads Samsung MX (Samsung's mobile devices division), will lead Samsung DX, which includes the company's home appliances and TVs business. He will step into the shoes of JH Han, who passed away last week due to a heart attack. TM Roh will also oversee the Quality Innovation Committee, which Han previously headed.

TM Roh has been heading Samsung's smartphone division since 2020, after taking over from DJ Koh. Samsung wants to stabilize the organization quickly and minimize the leadership gap.

Other personnel changes were also made at Samsung Electronics. Choi Won-jun, who was previously the Development Director and Global Operations Team Leader at Samsung DX and Samsung MX, will now hold the additional position of COO of both divisions. Previously, Choi worked for Qualcomm and has extensive experience in the smartphone industry. He is expected to improve Samsung's competitiveness in the international smartphone market.

Kim Cheol-gi, the Director of the Strategic Marketing Office at Samsung MX, has been promoted to the Director of Samsung's Digital Appliances (DA) division. He has extensive experience in sales and technology, and he is expected to improve Samsung's TV and home appliances division's leadership in the global market.
