“I don’t think a lot of people read the interview, and I don’t think that people have the correct interpretation,” Cunha said in a social media video addressing the controversy.
“Of course, the point was talking about Wolves, to show everyone how happy I am to be here, to play for this team, to play for these teammates and of course give back all the love that they give to me.”
However, Matheus Cunha also made it clear that as an ambitious player, he is eager to compete at the highest level, adding, “Ambitious players, of course, we want to play for something more, to put this club in another level, and of course, me and my teammates will give our all to achieve this goal.”
According to Fabrizio Romano, Matheus Cunha has a £62.5m release clause in his contract with Wolves, but sources suggest that United are keen on securing his services, especially with their ongoing search for a new striker.
